1840s and is a fine example of a traditional New Zealand pastoral farm.
Its purchase by the Regional Council in 1987 enables the development of
recreation as a major land use on the property alongside farming, forestry
and conservation, and the provision of public access to the recreational
and educational opportunities and experiences of a working farm.
