Throughout Queen Elizabeth Park, there are restoration projects happening to restore land and waterways by removing weeds and replanting with native species.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Maclean Trust, a large section of land in the north-east of the park has been retired and restored.
Chris Maclean and his son Sam wanted to invest in their local Kāpiti region and generously donated $260,000 towards this project, which focused on 25ha of land.
This money went towards the treatment of pest plants and replanting the area in native plants.
The process of restoration has allowed the area to become a thriving habitat for plants and animals and returned the land to an earlier state.
This project began in December 2017 and came to an end in 2023.
We’d like to thank the Maclean family for their contribution and commitment to the ongoing restoration of Queen Elizabeth Park.
