Public Notification: Amendment to the Regional Council’s Natural Resources Plan

To all interested parties, stakeholders, and members of the public: 

The Greater Wellington Regional Council (Greater Wellington) hereby gives notice that, in accordance with sections 55(2) and 55(2A) of the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA), Clause 3.22 (natural inland wetlands) of the National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management 2020 (NPS-FM) has been incorporated into the operative Natural Resources Plan for the region.  

Purpose of the Update:

On 8 December 2022, changes to the NPS-FM were gazetted; these came into force on 5 January 2023. These include NPS-FM Policy 3.22, which relates to natural inland wetlands. The NPS-FM requires this provision to be included in a regional plan without using the Schedule 1 process of the RMA.  Greater Wellington has amended the regional plan accordingly and incorporated the NPS-FM policy in Policy P110 of the Natural Resources Plan.
