Understanding a valuable resource

  • Published Date 11 Sep 2015

The community is encouraged to attend a meeting of Te Awarua-o-Porirua Whaitua Committee on Monday night to learn about the state of natural water in the catchment.

"Our freshwater lakes, rivers, aquifers and wetlands and coastal waters are under threat and it will take a considerable effort from everyone to maintain the quality, health, availability and economic value of our water in the face of climate change. Understanding the issues and challenges is important if we are to manage these valuable resources wisely. " says Stu Farrant, chair of Te Awarua-o-Porirua Whaitua Committee.

"This meeting is an open meeting and a great opportunity for people to learn about issues relating to hydrology and water allocation as well as the existing water quality and biodiversity in both freshwater and marine areas of the catchment."

The meeting runs from 5.00PM – 9:00PM on Monday 14 September at Linden Social Centre, Main Hall, Linden Avenue.
